April Rudolph Days Challenge

It's time for another Rudolph Days Challenge. You have until the end of the month to enter your Christmas card at the Mr. Linky below.

There have been a couple of additions to the rules.  Just basic things you would find on most challenges. Please have a peak through the rules here...

1. Rudolph Days will start monthly on the 25th and will close on the last day of that month.
2. The theme is always Anything Goes, as long as it is Christmas.
3. One entry per person and you just need to enter one Christmas card or Christmas project. (You can have more than one on your post, but your post will still only count as one entry)
4. You may combine your entry with other challenges (maximum of 10 in total).
5. Your card (or Christmas project) should not have been previously posted to your blog. It should be posted to your blog during the current months Rudolph Days Challenge, (between the 25th and last day of the current month)
6. Please link back or at least mention the Rudolph Days Challenge.
7.  Prizes will be shipped anywhere in the world.
8. The winner will be selected by random draw and announced on the first day of the following month.

My card today is a Bugaboo image called Winter Bird Trio. I coloured it with copics in non traditional colours. I added a touch of Stardust Stickles to the fur trim on the center bird's hat.
Used a Spellbinders oval to die cut the image...mostly because that is the only die I have that seemed to fit the image size! Matted it with a snippet of pink card die cut with Spellbinders Floral Oval.

I decided to use a We R Memory Keepers Joyous woodgrain background to pick up on the tree and branch my wee birds are perched on. Then I worried that it was a bit dark, so I added a snippet of Lawn Fawn Snowy Day musical scores and a strip of MME All Is Bright washi tape. I rarely use washi and was quite proud of myself to remember I had this...

Added some more pink with a Memory Box snowflake on a hanging bow and inked the sentiment in pink to tie in. I was going to complete my card with the Memory Box musical score in the top left corner, but then I remembered that I needed to make a card with stars for my Christmas Card Club.

So I raided my box of waste castoffs as I knew I had some teensy stars in there. They were the center waste from some snowflakes and from some ornaments I had cut last year. Waste not want not!
I popped the musical score down to the bottom left and used a series of waste stars in the top left. It was just luck that the stars were the right shade of blue! Hope you like this card.

I am entering my card in the following challenges:
1. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets
2. Christmas CArd Club - Stars

I am running without a designer this month as we were busy creating flower beds in our new back garden. It was a bigger job than anticipated as the soil is very much made of clay. Poor DH had to pickaxe it all out, haul it away and bring in new earth. In all the flurry of work, I forgot to book a designer. Sorry folks!

The April Rudolph Days Challenge prize is this Memory Box Sparkling Tree die.

April Rudolph Days Prize and a couple of New Rules

I want to draw your attention to a couple of new rules to the Rudolph Days Challenge.

One is just to clarify that cards you submit should not have been previously posted on your blog. In other words, they should be a card that you post to your blog during the current months Rudolph Days Challenge, (between the 25th and last day of the current month). I think this is a fairly common rule on most challenges...I just did not think to add it earlier.

There is just one more...Your blog post (or the list of challenges you are entering) should mention that you are entering your card or project to the Rudolph Days Challenge.  A  hyperlink would be great, but if you do not know how to do that, then just show the challenge post URL.

I will rephrase these a wee bit, and add them to the existing rules that we already have.

The prize for the May Rudolph Days challenge will be this Sparkling Tree Memory Box Die.

Christmas Card Club - Vintage

Another fortnight has flown by and Rachel of Fisher Cards and Crafts, chose a Vintage theme for our Christmas Card Club. I love making vintage cards so perused my canvas images on hand and found this likely candidate.

This was part of a very old (VOS) canvas sheet of images. I have used a few of them up now...think I have only one more left...so hopefully this qualifies as a snippet! Oh well...if not, I managed to make most of this card from my bits box, so that is a good thing! Now I can go skipping straight over to Pixies Crafty Workshop for this weeks Use Your snippets challenge.

When I think of vintage, I immediately see kraft card, chipboard, a touch a jute twine and some vintage image to bring it all together. This card is no exception.  I decided to try out some of my Maya Road chipboard snowflakes. I think they are NBUS (never before used stash) as I can not remember ever using them before! Funny how you often reach for the tried and true instead of giving the newcomers a tryout! Then time goes by and those newcomers are suddenly old as well! I was going to ink the edges with my chalk ink but then decided they picked up the background greige of the canvas image, so left them as is.

The striped background DP is MME Santa Claus and the dotted border strip is a snippet of the same line. I raided my bits box for the doily...it is actually only half a doily, judicially placed to look whole. The kraft corner die flourish, the snippet of a border die, and the kraft snowflake were from dies I had already cut and had on hand. This card managed to use up a few more bits and bobs.

Recipe
Card base and envelope - 5 1/2 inch square textured card,  from my stash
DP - MME Santa Claus, from my stash
Card Stock - snippet of kraft card, from my stash
Hessian mat - snippet of a  DCWV 6 inch stack, from my stash
Chipboard snowflakes - Maya Road (NBUS)
Dies - Memory Box flourish and Impression Obsession snowflake, from my stash. The border die snippet is Martha Stewart, I think
Bling - red diamonds, from my stash
Doily - dollar store doily, from my stash
Image - Canvas image
Jute twine - from my stash

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

1. Christmas Card Club - Vintage
2. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets

Plain and Simple

Hope you do not think this card is too plain and simple to be posted.

The image is UPcycled from a thank you card we received from Anna, a family member in England.  I loved that adorable puppy so saved the card front and die cut it once I got home. Yes, you know where it ended up...in the homemade card kit box! It has sat there for a couple of years now...shame on me....

I assemble my card kits in 6x6 clear sleeves. I tossed in the image, a kraft large scalloped circle die, a snippet of jute type cord, and this tag from a package of goodies I won some time ago.

I merely ticked some teensy diamonds onto the flowers on the tag, mounted that on a snippet of unknown  DP from my bits box, and then added the matted puppy image. A snippet of jute cord tied in a bow and this card was finished.

Funny how the angle of the photo makes it look like I tilted the tag...I did not tilt it as I felt the DP dots looked  weird that way...now here it is in the photo looking very tilted indeed!  lol

Another card into the finished cards box and best of all., well under a half hour from start to finish!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
1. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets
